This is the first week back for the Aldermen from their winter/holiday break.
New Legislation
There were 7 bills introduced and read for the first time at this past week’s Board of Aldermen meeting. The following is a synopsis of some of the bills:
Alderwoman Dionne Flowers introduced Board Bill # 275 which is an ordinance authorizing a Quit Claim Deed to Glenmark Industries for property at 543 Calvary.
Alderman Steven Gregali introduced Board Bill # 277 pertaining to procedures for negotiating memorandums of understanding for public employees.
Alderwoman Lyda Krewson introduced Board Bill # 279 an ordinance approving a blighting study and redevelopment plan for 6027 Westminster Place.
Alderwoman April Ford Griffin introduced BB# 280 which is an ordinance allowing the City to enter into a lease agreement with Terminal Railroad Association on the Unimproved Wharf for mooring privileges.
COMMITTEES
The Public Employees met on Tuesday to hear testimony on two pieces of legislation. The Public Employees Committee considers all matters pertaining to City employment, its terms, conditions, bargaining representatives, if any, as well as the rules, regulations and operations of the Civil Service Commission.
Alderman Stephen Gregali is the sponsor of Board Bill # 15 which is an ordinance requiring the contracting of City construction and/or maintenance contracts to “Responsible Contractors” .
Alderman Stephen Gregali is the sponsor of Board Bill # 74 pertaining to the City Health Insurance Committee.
Events of Interest at the Board of Aldermen Meeting
All bills were third read and finally passed before break and thus there were no bills on the perfection or third reading calendar today.
The Board of Aldermen from time to time stop in their deliberations to recognize, citizens or groups for the outstanding contributions to the betterment of not only the City of St. Louis but of the entire region. Today the Board of Aldermen recognized National Mentoring Month and the many contributions Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri make to the St. Louis region.
