President Reed Visits Southside Wellness
By Mary Miller Cullins
Tuesday was Valentine’s Day and the senior citizens at the Southside Wellness Center had a party. Aldermanic President Lewis Reed stopped by to say hello and present the ladies with a gift. Ollie Stuart, Director of Southside Wellness and a senior herself, knows the importance of daily programs for our older community members. “Folks are living longer and enjoying life with the help of this program”, said Ollie.
The seniors enjoyed lunch, entertainment, and cake. Birthdays were celebrated for four of the ladies and they really enjoyed their special gifts from President Reed. Happy Birthday to Louise, Mamie, Gwendolyn, and Margaret.
Southside Wellness provides daily hot lunches, water aerobics at the rec center, and a host of other activities. President Reed talked to them about the importance of their right to vote and that in numbers their voices will be heard, not to be discouraged. After much cake and laughter, the van pulled up and it was time to go. Another great party at Southside Wellness. Thanks Ollie!
