Crown Food Mart Grand Opening Draws Crowd

You wouldn’t think a grand opening at a gas station would be a big deal, but last week when the Crown Food Mart at 5745 Delmar opened, it was a celebration!  This corner needed a change for over twenty years, and now it is here.  Thanks to the Jabar family, community leaders, and employees, this corner went from being a dreary, outdoor, gas -only station to a 24/7 full service facility.  The corner of Delmar at Goodfellow is now a well-lit, secure business for folks who need gas, food, dinner, grocery items, or directions.

The Jabar family own and operate a number of  Crown Food Mart’s in the area.  Their employees are like family.  They are proud of their business, work with community leaders, and their staff.

Aldermanic President, Lewis Reed stopped by the festivities to wish the owners well and thank them for their numerous contributions to the City of St. Louis.

To show their appreciation to employees and customers, the Grand Opening was a party.  Food, music, and local elected officials were on hand to greet and serve those coming in to do business or check out the new store.

Complimentary food, drinks, and desserts were served all day.  You know the neighbors loved that hospitality.  Another example of how much the Jabar family cares about the communities they serve.

What’s a party without a cake?

The Jabar’s are planning to open another location next month at the corner of Manchester and S. Kingshighway.  For year’s that site has been an eyesore for those traveling to Forest Park or to the Grove neighborhood.  Stay tuned for those changes!

Did I mention the fried chicken?  If you haven’t had Crown Food Mart‘s chicken with a cajun flare, you need to pick up dinner some night, it is delicious!

I had a great day meeting the Jabar family and their employees.  Everyone was excited about the new location and proud of their contributions to St. Louis neighborhoods.  I spoke to nearby residents who stopped in and they are so delighted to have Crown Food Mart and the Jabar family as new neighbors.  “It’s been a long time coming”, said Rosalyn, who stopped by for some gas and food on her way home.
