Tiger Cub Visits City Hall
By Mary Miller Cullins
This week I had the pleasure of meeting Caleb Long, a Tiger Cub member of the Boy Scouts of America. He is on spring break from school and he was with his grandma, Connie Long, for the day. He was working on getting a few of his badges completed for Boy Scouts.
His grandma told me they visited the Post Office yesterday, and today was “City Hall” day. Caleb was very interested in the pictures of the aldermen and former mayor’s that line the walls here on the second floor. I invited them both to follow me down the hall for a tour of the Aldermanic Chambers, where my boss, President Lewis Reed, and the 28 city aldermen meet every Friday.
Caleb was immediately impressed with the large, ornate room. He was especially interested in the murals painted near the ceiling. Especially the one with the Indians. But, like most kids his age, it was the dais, the hammer, and the microphone he was drawn to.
Some days, meeting a kid like Caleb, just makes the whole day brighter. Today was that day!
Thanks Caleb!!!!
