Cardinals Go Retro For 2013
The St. Louis Cardinals introduced their new alternate jersey for next season. The new retro look throw back will say “St. Louis” accross the front. It will be the first change to the birds on bats in 80 years. They will also make changes to their home and road jerseys.
The traditional looking jersey is off-white and made from materials to look like the old flannels. It features the two birds on a bat with more detailed stitching and the bat loops through the “S” in “St. Louis.” It is the first Cardinals jersey to have the city’s name on it since the 1932 Cardinals had “St. Louis” on both their home and away jerseys as reported by the Post Dispatch
The alternate jersey also features piping along the collar and down the front of the jersey that was last used during Stan Musial’s career, back in the 1950s. The new jerseys went on sale at the Busch Stadium team store.
