“Love Me”
By Mary Miller Cullins
One of the poems read at this year’s 2012 Citywide 7th Grade Poetry Contest in St. Louis, was titled Love Me by Tyriq Toler, a student at Confluence Academy Walnut Park. The event, sponsored by the 7th Grade Poetry Foundation, was filmed at The Regional Arts Commission. Tyriq’s poem is fitting for this time of year, a time for love and peace.
Love Me
By Tyriq Toler
Love me when I’m feeling pain,
when I’m feeling good.
Love me when I’m feeling sad,
when I’m feeling happy.
Love me when I’m me,
when I’m all alone.
Love me when the sun is up,
when the moon is shown.
Love me when I’m young,
when I’m old.
Love me when I’m here in Earth,
when I’m forever gone.
Love me when I’ve died,
when I’m still alive.
Because I will always love you,
Until the day I die.
