Bills Upset #20 New Mexico
The 2012-13 Saint Louis University Billikens are proving they are legitimate contenders in the NCAA elite. The Bills dominated 20th-ranked New Mexico with leads of 20 and 21 points letting them get as close as 9 points before this game was handedly decided 60-46, a win showing SLU team plans to be a force.
The Billikens defense continues to play well, holding coach Steve Alford’s New Mexico team just coming off a big win against number 8 Cincinnati to 31.8 shooting percentage and forcing 21 turnovers, at one point New Mexico committed seven turnovers back to back.
Kwamain Mitchell’s return adds to an already potent attack his quickness and leadership takes this team up another notch. But the hero of the the night was the team defense making New Mexico turn the ball over on 16 of its 33 possessions in the first half. The Bills seven game win streak is the first in close to a decade and shows they are ready for Atlantic 10 Conference play.
