BOA Meeting Janaury 11th
This past week the Board of Aldermen held their weekly meeting, presided by Lewis Reed, President of the Board of Aldermen.

The meeting was lead by a prayer from Bishop Lawrence Wooten.
New Legislation
There were twenty-three bills introduced and read for the first time at this past week’s Board of Aldermen meeting. Bills on Perfection
The piece of legislation that received most discussion is Board Bill # 258, which was sponsored by Aldermen and Alderwomen

Young/Bosley/Conway/Howard/Florida/Roddy/Carter/Krewson/Pres. Reed –
An ordinance relating to parks; subject to theapproval of the voters, an additional three-sixteenths of one cent sales tax on all retail sales made; containing an interpretation clause, a severability clause and an emergency clause. After about 2 hours of debate this bill was perfected on a vote of 24 ayes, 3 noes and one present.
Special Recognition
The Board of Aldermen from time to time stop in their deliberations to recognize citizens or groups for their outstanding contributions to the betterment, of not only the City of St. Louis, but of the entire region.
Alderman Sam Moore sponsored Resolution # 221 honoring Adminsitrative Assistant Pastor Solomon L. Williams. We pause in our deliberations to honor and congratulate Administrative Assistant Pastor Solomon L. Williams on his 70th Birthday, on January 4, 2013, and as his community service and spiritual leadership in the City of St. Louis.

Pastor Williams traveled from door to door serving the residents in the community , due to Pastor Williams’ love for the youth of north St. Louis he formed classes with the goal of children advancing from mediocre grades and problematic dispositions to traits of scholarly achievements, garnering grades that they as well as their parents could be proud of, Pastor Williams began his service as pastor in 1976.
Alderwoman Donna Baringer sponsored Resolution # 212 honoring the Conventionand Visitors Commission. Resolution.#212 – Baringer was also co-sponsored by /Cohn/Vaccaro/Krewson/Schmid/Ogilvie/Florida/Young/Hubbard/Howard/Boyd/Arnowitz/Williamson/Pres. Vollmer/Davis/Carter/Flowers/Pres. Reed – The Board of Aldermen recognize the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission for their continued success.

CVC Director Kitty Ratcliffe
The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission is the Official Destination Marketing Organization for St. Louis City. The CVC conducts advertising campaigns in metro areas surrounding St. Louis for the purpose of generating tourism.

A new commercial captioned “Jetsetter” was shot on location in St. Louis in July of 2011 and began airing in September.
After receiving outstanding consumer response, the commercial was entered into the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Competition and won an EMMY.
