Cardinals Look To The Future

Spring training for the St Louis Cardinals is in full swing and 2nd year manager Mike Matheny will start a season without his ace pitcher Chris Carpenter, but this time for good. Having a relaxed, well rested Adam Wainwright relives some of that pressure for a manager but still Carp’s locker room presence will be surely missed.

The pick up of veteran leadership may be coming from Holliday and Freese but Molina is the sure definite. The Cardinals rotation will be young,  putting that number 1 ranked farm system to good use as we hope the prospects keep stepping up and performing on the level of the rich Cardinal tradition.

The 2013 Cardinals will at least begin the season without the pressure  of not having Pujols and LaRussa so they will not have the same scrutiny.  Starting the season as runner up NL champions says enough, the developing continuation of winning is in the air.  Cardinal baseball opening day April 8th 2013:
